613 new infections in South Coastal AP

South Coastal Andhra Pradesh reported 613 new COVID infections, 81 more than yesterday, in the last 24 hours that ended at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday.

Prakasam registered 307 new cases while Nellore District registered 306 cases. This increased the cumulative balance in the region to more than 2.44 lakh.

In the SPSR Nellore and Prakasam districts, active cases, which have been steadily declining since mid-May, fell to 8,916 during the reporting period.

The number of patients in the region rose to 1,799 when three patients in SPSR Nellore district and two in Prakasam district succumbed to the virus disease in the past 24 hours, according to a health bulletin published by the state government on Wednesday. To date, there have been 903 fatalities in Prakasam district, while 896 have died in SPSR Nellore district.

The number of recoveries continued to exceed the number of new cases. Up to 694 patients in the region, including 367 in the Prakasam district, recovered. This improved the recycling rate to 95.62%. To date, more than 2.34 lakh patients have recovered in the two districts.

In preparation for a possible third wave of the pandemic, the Prakasam district administration issued an order notifying 41 hospitals across the district to treat COVID patients in accordance with established standard operating procedures (SOPs).
