Naidu demands action in the event of abuse

National President of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), N. Chandrababu Naidu, wrote a letter to Director General of Police (DGP) D. Gautam Sawang on Monday calling for the necessary steps to be taken to stop the perpetrators of molesting a woman in Sitanagaram Ghat Arrest Guntur district.

Mr. Naidu said in the letter that the victim and her fiancé visited Sitanagaram Pushkar Ghat on June 19. Two villains allegedly attacked the couple, holding the man captive by handcuffing him and threatening to cut his throat with a blade.

The villains molested the woman and robbed the couple of their valuables before escaping in the dark, Mr Naidu said, pointing out that the Sitanagaram Pushkar Ghat police station is now in ruins.

“Intensify patrols”

“Despite many complaints about the sale of drugs and the presence of anti-social elements in the area with close proximity to the DGP office and the prime minister’s house, no action has yet been taken,” said the TDP leader.

Against this background it is necessary to intensify police patrols on the banks of the Krishna River near Sitanagaram.

“It is high time the police arrested the perpetrators to build trust among people and bring justice to the victim,” he added.
