CM strokes employees during record shots during vaccination campaign

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has asked the officials concerned to prepare for another mega-vaccination campaign in the state as soon as sufficient doses are available.

Officials told Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy that the state has the capacity and mechanism to deliver 20-25 lakh vaccines in a single day.

Mr Jagan held a review meeting on COVID-19 response, vaccination and Nadu-Nedu work at the Ministry of Health on Monday.

He said the state has an effective mechanism in place to conduct large-scale vaccinations, and the mega-action of giving over 13.7 lakh doses in a day proved it. He congratulated all staff including ASHA staff, ANMs and staff in village / community secretariats and PHCs in this regard.

Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy instructed officials to expedite the construction of new medical colleges and complete them on a war basis.

He was told that the test positive rate had decreased in the state, except in the East Godavari district.

212 die of black fungus

Officials said there were 2,655 ICU beds and 13,824 oxygen beds available on Sunday, and 91.48% of beds occupied were under the Aarogyasri program. The state has registered 2,772 cases of black fungus so far, of which 1,232 have been discharged after treatment. Up to 922 patients were operated on and 212 died while the rest were treated, officials said.

Mr Jagan urged officials to be on alert as the lockdown in neighboring states was being eased.
