We have a capacity to vaccinate 1 Cr. People in a month: Singhal
Andhra Pradesh has set a record by vaccinating more than 11.85 lakh in a single day on Sunday, overcoming a “small vaccine hesitation” among people, State Health Minister Anil Kumar Singhal said.
Mr. Anil Kumar Singhal completed the vaccination campaign at a state primary school in Ramnagar here on Sunday evening with Ongole MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy to demonstrate to everyone the ability of the state to protect its population from the disease. On an earlier occasion, six lakhs were vaccinated in one day.
Thanks to the joint efforts of the staff and the support of the electorate, 11.85.653 people across the country were vaccinated by 5 p.m. on Sunday, he told media representatives.
The state has the capacity to vaccinate about a billion people in a month, he said, given the overwhelming response to the special today.
The implementation of the campaign, which included mothers of children between the ages of 0 and 5 and those over 45 years of age, was meticulously planned, he said.
“The whole exercise was done foolproof,” he added, patting the staff including ASHAs, ANMs and volunteers down to the ground to motivate people and work from morning to night while they administered the vaccine.
