Youth arrested for opening fire on neighbor

Police arrested a 24-year-old tailor on Saturday in the village of Kadapa Nattam, 100 km from here, in the village of Baireddipalle, on charges of opening fire on his neighbors with a land weapon on Friday evening alliance with a girl in the village.

According to information, the marriage of Chand Basha, 25, to a girl in the village was fixed. However, after the engagement, the girl’s family withdrew from the marriage to Basha, and he was not convinced of the reasons given for the refusal. He reportedly learned that Mudeena, the girl’s aunt, was behind the dissolution of the alliance. In the past, the two allegedly attacked each other often and blamed each other for the development.

Deputy SP (Palamaner) CM Gangaiah said Mudeena and Basha had an argument in a public place Friday night while the former allegedly humiliated the youth. In a rage, Basha pulled a country-made rifle from his home and reached Mudeena’s house around 10:30 p.m. on Friday. He reportedly shot at the door to warn the woman and her family members not to interfere in his affairs.

Fearing that the family might inform the police about his crime, Basha fled the village with the gun and hid in a nearby forest for the whole night.

Following a complaint from Mudeena on Saturday, Baireddipalle police arrested the youth and confiscated the gun when he came out of the forest. Trials against the defendants have been posted under various sections of the IPC.
