Wrong case against Dalit youth in Nellore: Naidu

The President of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), N. Chandrababu Naidu, has alleged that a false case has been recorded against Karakata Mallikarjun, a young Dalit from the village of Kammapalem, Nellore district, and has appointed the Director General of Police (DGP) D Gautam Sawang urged to drop the case.

In a letter to the DGP on Sunday, Naidu emphasized the need to take action against the police officers who were responsible for the “harassment” of the young people.

“The innocent youth from the weaker groups fall victim to the lawlessness of the YSRCP leaders. The police opened a rowdy paper against Mallikarjun with no valid evidence, ”the TDP president claimed.

Mr. Naidu, who accompanied the letter with a video of the alleged attack on Mallikarjun, alleged that the youth was stopped on the way to Nellore and attacked by YSRCP henchmen. When Mallikarjun tried to run away, four thugs followed and attacked him, alleged Mr. Naidu.

Mr. Naidu said that Mallikarjun was arrested by Kodavalur police that same day and a false case was recorded against him. However, he was released on bail the same day after many people protested the arbitrary police force.

Request wanted

“Mallikarjun has consistently raised issues related to the illegal digging of the Paideru Drain and the transportation of earth by local YSRCP leaders. Mallikarjun’s wife had applied to be a sarpanch candidate while another family member competed against the YSRCP as MPTC. It appears that thugs at the YSRCP leader’s instance attacked Mallikarjun to prevent him from opposing their illegal activities, ”said the TDP president.

Mr. Naidu appealed to the DGP to take immediate action against the perpetrators and to remove the false cases filed against Mallikarjun. “At the same time, an investigation must be conducted against the Kodavalur police who tried to falsely accuse Mallikarjun,” said Mr. Naidu.
