The country’s e-commerce segment is expected to reach $ 99 billion by 2024, with food, fashion and apparel likely to be the main drivers of incremental growth, said K. Devendra, chief operating officer of Dutch multinational Spar International, here on Saturday.

He spoke at a webinar organized by GITAM Deemed to be University, Institute of Management.

Devendra said India’s online grocery market will hit $ 18.2 billion in 2024.

India’s e-commerce order volume rose 36% in the final quarter of 2020, with the personal care, beauty and wellness segment being the biggest beneficiary, he added.

He said 8% of the Indian workforce is employed in retail.
