Eight children saved from the fight against begging

Youth welfare officials raided the city on Thursday and rescued eight children who were allegedly begging at various intersections.

The teams raided central Koneru, the bus station and other locations, and rescued the children between the ages of five and ten. They were placed in a childcare facility in the city, said K. Bhaskar, parole officer for the youth welfare district.

“The rescued children include three girls and five boys. Two children suffered from fever and other symptoms and information was passed on to their parents, ”said the DSB.

The children were in poor health and were in an anemic state. One child was immediately given to parents, said Mr Bhaskar.

Parents who force their children to beg at transport hubs and other public places would be dealt with. The rescued children would be admitted to the nearby state schools.
