Naidu condemns the killing of two TDP activists in the Kurnoolno district

National President of the TDP, N. Chandrababu Naidu, condemned the murder of two party activists in Pesaravai, Gadivemula Mandal, Kurnool district on Thursday.

In a statement, Mr Naidu said former sarpanch Vaddi Nageswara Reddy and former Kurnool County Cooperative Society president Vaddi Pratapa Reddy were killed returning home after attending a relative’s funeral rites.

The attackers attacked them with sickles, said Mr Naidu, suspecting the role of YSRCP MLA Katasani Rambhupal Reddy in the incident.

Mr. Naidu stated that law and order in the state had deteriorated under the YSRCP administration, claiming that the police danced to the tune of the ruling party leaders. He said 30 TDP activists had been killed in the past two years.

Mr Naidu went on to claim that around 1,500 TDP leaders were attacked and their property was attacked, but police did nothing to control the trend.

Mr. Naidu expressed his condolences to the relatives of the murdered party activists and said that the party would give them any support.

“Alleviating the suffering of farmers”

Mr Naidu also addressed farmers’ questions with the Prime Minister. In a letter to Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy, he looked for steps to alleviate the distress of the farmers.

He said that in Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam, and East and West Godavari districts, 4,000 billion yen was pending payment to farmers. He claimed that farmers were denied the minimum support price.

During the TDP period, the amount for the purchase of the products was paid into the farmers’ accounts within 48 hours, claimed Mr Naidu. The YSRCP government respected a 21-day window, and even that deadline was missed, which exacerbated farmers’ suffering, he said.

The farmers are unable to pay interest on loans and are also unable to start Kharif operations, he said, accusing the government of driving the farmers into a debt trap.

In the Godavari districts alone, fees of 2,500 crore were due. The procurement of products is also being ignored, he claimed. To date, only 27.87 lakh tons of rice have been procured, compared to the promised 45 lakh tons, he said.

The peanut crop in the Rayalaseema region was totally damaged due to natural disasters during Kharif-2020 and to date the farmers have not been paid any subsidy for the input, claimed Mr Naidu.
