1,500 COVID patients recover in one day in South Coastal AP

The COVID-19 situation continued to improve in the south coast of Andhra Pradesh as more than 1,500 patients recovered from the infection in the past 24 hours through Thursday morning. However, the region reported more than 800 infections during the reporting period.

Ten other patients, including seven in Prakasam district, succumbed to the virus, bringing the total number of deaths in the area to 1,765.

So far, Nellore District has reported 883 deaths and Prakasam District has reported 882 deaths, according to a health bulletin published by the state government Thursday evening.

The cumulative number rose to 2.41 lakh as 274 people in Prakasam District and 554 in Nellore District tested positive during the reporting period. Active cases steadily declined from the high of over 40,000 in mid-May.

The number of infections decreased by 716 to 10,783 as 1,030 patients in Prakasam district and 504 patients in Nellore district recovered during the reporting period. This improved the recovery rate to 94.79%. To date, more than 2.28 lakh patients have won the battle against the disease.
