State government. “Diversion” foundation fund: TDP

The Telugu Desam Party on Wednesday accused the Jagan Mohan Reddy government of “arbitrarily and illegally” diverting funds from minority and Hindu religious departments and foundations to implement Navaratnalu programs, including Vahana Mitra.

TDP State Unit spokesman Anam Venkata Ramana Reddy addressed media representatives here, referring to a recent Madras Supreme Court ruling on a similar case filed by a Rangarajan Narasimham of Srirangam, claiming that the government has no legal right to Divert funds from temples to other departments through the publication of GOs.

He protested the latest GO RT 1335 issued by the state government on June 14 to allegedly divert ₹ 49 lakh from the Foundation Department for the Vahana Mitra program.

It is unfortunate that the YSR Congressional Party government, faced with resource shortages, put its hands on the kittens of the endowment department to fund welfare programs, he said.
