The state government has announced ex-gratia to the families of health care workers who succumbed to COVID while on their COVID service.
Ex gratia will be paid and exposed to COVID to directly dependent doctors, nurses and other medical staff involved in COVID duties, including door-to-door visits, according to a GO issued Monday.
Relatives of doctors would get 25 lakh while relatives of nurses would get 20 lakh. Similarly, nurses would get 15 lakh and all other staff would get 10 lakh.
The voluntary benefit announced by the state is in addition to the center’s benefits under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan insurance package.
The GO states that the COVID-19 positive certificate and death certificate showing that the death was due to COVID-19 were mandatory to claim the voluntary benefit.
