Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday called on the Union Minister for Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat to obtain an investment permit for the Polavaram project in the amount of approx Ministry accepted at the 2017-18 price level.
“The clearance will help complete the project work, including land acquisition and R&R, on schedule by June 2022,” Jagan Mohan Reddy told Mr. Shakhawat during their deliberations in New Delhi, according to an official press release here.
The Prime Minister also urged the Union Minister to consider water supply as an integral part of the irrigation component in order to be in line with the Ministry’s guidelines on national projects. He wanted all expenses to be reimbursed with no restriction on component eligibility.
‘Move PPA headquarters’
Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy also asked the Union Minister to reimburse the state government for land acquisition expenses and R&R compensation paid to families affected by the project in accordance with the right to adequate compensation and transparency in land acquisition, rehabilitation and relocation. 2013 and move the PPA headquarters from Hyderabad to Rajamahendravaram at an early stage.
In a separate meeting with Prakash Javadekar, Minister of the Union for Environment, Forests and Climate Change, the Prime Minister called on him to take action to address the problems encountered in obtaining environmental permits for the material storage works of the Polavaram project.
