Vaccination campaign started in old people’s homes in Guntur

Designated vaccination center opened for students waiting to study abroad: Collector

District collector Vivek Yadav said the district administration stands ready to address any need should there be a third wave and that they will ensure that everyone in the district gets the push to minimize the effects of the wave.

After the start of a vaccination campaign in the Anurag retirement home in Ravindranagar on Saturday, the collector inspected the vaccination program at the Pattabhi Seetharamaiah School in Brindavan Gardens, where pupils and the disabled were vaccinated. The daily number in the district is about 500 cases and about 10,000 tests were done each day, Vivek Yadav said.

“We will continue to vaccinate frontline workers, seniors, people over 45 and mothers of children under five at 155 permanent vaccination centers across the county. There are 43 old people’s homes in the district and we are sending teams to vaccinate 1,200 inmates. We have also set up a special vaccination center for students who want to go abroad to study, and so far 1,047 students have been vaccinated, ”said Vivek Yadav.

The Collector said over 50% of those over 45 and over 95% of frontline workers were vaccinated. Mothers with children under the age of five also have priority, as reports suggest that more children may be affected during the third wave. Special vaccination campaigns were carried out for journalists, employees in the electricity sector, RTC, etc.

“We hope that the third wave may not become a reality, but even if it does, we are prepared for any situation. We have set up children’s wards in all hospitals, recruited paediatricians and increased medication and medication, ”said the collector.
