Wild elephant electrocuted in Chittoor

: A wild elephant was found on Friday the 11th. This is the twelfth huge casualty incident in Chittoor district in the past two years.

According to the information, the wild elephant, an underage male, was found by farmers near the field with barbed wire fence late Thursday evening. It was believed that the pachyderm attempted to get into the field around midnight on Thursday. Since the fence was supposedly connected to a power line, the jumbo died instantly. On Friday, the farmers found the animal’s carcass lying next to an uprooted rock pillar.

Divisional Forest Officer (Chittoor West) S. Ravi Shankar rushed to the site inspection with senior forest officials from the Palamaner and Chittoor Ranges. The officer said the circumstances that led to the accident were being thoroughly investigated.

Preparations for completing the autopsy were underway.
