“New education policy not in the interest of the state”

Andhra Pradesh Teachers’ Federation Srikakulam President Majji Madanmohan on Thursday called on public officials to raise their voices in the Legislative Assembly and Parliament against the new 2020 National Education Policy as it would deny children their rights in many ways.

He presented separately memoranda to MPs Bellana Chandrasekhar of Vizianagaram and Rajam MLA Kambala Jogulu saying that many elementary schools would be closed with a plan to merge some elementary schools with upper elementary and secondary schools. He added that teaching in Telugu and English should continue at the same time as teaching the mother tongue is essential for children to understand the basics of each subject.

APTF leaders Pilla Tirupati Rao and Murapaka Venkataramana urged the government to seek the opinion of teachers’ unions before introducing the NEP in the state.
