High vigil at intergovernmental checkpoints in Chittoor

Collector M. Hari Narayanan on Thursday informed the COVID Task Force teams in all mandals bordering the neighboring Karnataka and Tamil Nadu in order to raise their vigil at the border control posts in coordination with the area police in order to contain COVID cases in the district.

Speaking to task force teams in Madanapalle and Palamaner subdivisions, the Collector said that in addition to stepping up the vigil in the border areas, the task force staff should take the lead in conducting a fever survey in all villages and counties by field workers . and achieving the vaccination goal in mothers with children aged 0-5 years.

The task would include identifying the containment zones and distributing promotional materials to reach the public on the ground. Follow-up of primary and secondary contacts should be stepped up along with early testing and triaging, he said.

Meanwhile, the collector issued a press release urging the mango farmers not to rush to cut the unripe fruit, but to wait a few days before transporting the stocks to the pulp units. He assured mango growers that their entire harvest of the Totapuri variety would reach the pulp units. He also asked them not to fall for rumors of low prices for the products.
