New temple on Ramateertham Hill should be ready by January 2022

Foundations Minister Velampalli Srinivasa Rao on Wednesday said the construction of a new temple on Ramateertham Hill, where the idols of Lord Ram and the goddess Sita were destroyed last year, will be completed by January 2022.

The vandalism led to massive riot and protests across the state. Mr. Srinivasa Rao, who is also the district minister, visited the temple grounds and spoke to officials and priests.

He later told reporters that sculptors in Chilakaluripet were busy making sculptures for the temple. In the afternoon he attended a review meeting in the Collector’s office. Botcha Satyanarayana City Government Minister explained the problems faced by various temples in the district. Mr. Srinivasa Rao said the government is interested in ensuring the development of 1,000 small and medium-sized temples in the North Andhra region.

Vizianagaram MP Bellana Chandra Sekhar, Nellimarla MLA Baddukonda Appala Naidu, S. Kota MLA Kadubandi Srinivasa Rao and Parvatipuram MLA Alajangi Jogarao attended the session.
