Doctors demand better working conditions

Under a boycott of non-COVID tasks, interns held a demonstration in front of the State General Hospital (GGH) on Wednesday and demanded that the state government improve their working conditions in the hospitals.

The slogan “Save the Savior” was on everyone’s lips as health workers, led by the President of the GGH Unit of the Andhra Pradesh Junior Doctors Association, C. Manikanta, pushed for adequate health insurance for them. In addition to the ex-gratia announced by the center, they should be guaranteed the best treatment if they contract an infection, they said.

Despite being preoccupied with COVID chores and risking their lives, they were left in the lurch, they complained.

Security should be increased in all hospitals to protect doctors who have faced attack in the event that patients die from medical causes beyond their control, they added.

The government should provide a special COVID allowance in addition to increasing their scholarship. If the government did not evaluate their demands positively, it would have no choice but to increase the excitement from Thursday, it said.
