CPI calls for the removal of Lakshadweep Lt. Governor

The National Secretary of the Communist Party of India (CPI) K. Narayana on Tuesday called for the recall of Lakshadweep Lieutenant Governor Praful Khoda Patel, claiming he wanted to force the union area people to join the dictates of Sangh Pariwar.

During a solidarity protest on the Lakshadweep issue in Nagari, 40 miles from here, the CPI leader claimed that the BJP-led NDA government had resorted to shutting down the local dairy sector in Lakshadweep with the aim of delivering it to Amul Dairy to pass, besides interfering with the culture and traditions of the local people. Dr. Narayana went on to claim that the Lakshadweep government was desperate to give union territory to corporate workers in order to boost tourism.

The CPI leader warned that the party would launch nationwide agitation if the center continued its suppression of the Lakshadweep people. District party cadres joined in the excitement.
