Antarvedi woman speaks at the UN meeting on World Oceans Day

Tadi Deepika, a native of Antarvedi in the East Godavari district, has the opportunity to represent India at a virtual meeting organized by the United Nations Organization (UN) on the occasion of World Ocean Day 2021 on Tuesday.

Ms. Deepika, who works with an NGO on waste management in coastal villages, is one of 45 speakers from different countries attending the online marine pollution reduction event.

Speakers from a variety of backgrounds including scientists, environmentalists, oceanographers, geologists, waste management experts, marine biologists, volunteers, NGO officials and others will attend the World Ocean Day celebrations on June 8th.

Ms. Deepika will speak about how plastic waste pollutes the Bay of Bengal and poses a threat to marine animals.

“I am very excited to have the opportunity to speak at the global event on World Oceans Day. I will share my experiences and explain the role of humans in protecting the oceans, ”said Ms. Deepika.

AP Mahila Commission Chairman Vasireddy Padma congratulated Ms. Deepika on Monday: “It is everyone’s responsibility to save the waters and protect the environment. We should follow Ms. Deepika’s example in avoiding plastic waste in bodies of water. “
