Government turns to PHC doctor in fight against COVID-19

The state government has announced that it will cover the treatment costs of N. Bhaskara Rao in the amount of 1.50 crore, a medical officer at the primary health center in Karamchedu, Prakasam district, who is fighting for his life in a company hospital in Hyderabad following COVID-19 complications .

An official press release states that Dr. Bhaskara Rao and his wife Bhagya Lakshmi, Assistant Professor at Guntur Medical College, tested positive for COVID-19 and were admitted to Government General Hospital in Guntur on April 30. You have been given an injection of remdesivir.

Dr. Bhaskara Rao was transferred to Aayush Hospital in Vijayawada on May 3 when his condition worsened. On May 10, he was transferred to Yashoda Hospital in Hyderabad, where he was ventilated. He was later transferred to a nursing care hospital in Gachibowli, Hyderabad, where he was recommended to undergo extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and a lung transplant, which would cost him approximately $ 1.50 billion.

When Prime Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy learned of his condition from Energy Minister Balineni Srinivasa Reddy, he instructed officials to ensure that Dr. Bhaskara Rao is treated well at the government’s expense.

AP Medical Association General Secretary Pidakala Syamsundar thanked the Prime Minister for his gesture that assured government doctors that they would take care of them.
