One case has been registered and further investigations are ongoing.
In a shocking incident, a youth in the village of Sambaiah Kandriga on the outskirts of the Chittoor concern allegedly murdered a woman, cut her throat in her sleep after rejecting advances, and killed himself in retaliation by the woman’s siblings Friday morning.
According to information, Sushmitha, 22, from the village works as a nurse at Christian Medical College Hospital in Cheelapalle in the Gudipala Mandal, 10 km from Chittoor. Chinnappa aka Varadaiah (28), a youth from the same village, was after the woman who urged her to accept his love. On Thursday evening, the young person is said to have spoken to the woman and repeated his suggestion, but to no avail.
With this in mind, Sushmitha was asleep on the porch in the early hours of Friday morning when Chinnappa snuck into the serving and allegedly cut her throat with a knife. When they heard the uproar, their older and younger brothers rushed to the spot to find Sushmitha in a pool of blood and Chinnappa desperate to flee. The angry siblings picked up sticks and reportedly killed the defendants on the spot.
Deputy SP (Chittoor) N. Sudhakar Reddy and senior Chittoor police officers visited the village and inspected the location of the tragedy. A police station was organized in the village to prevent clashes between the two families and their relatives. The bodies were taken to Chittoor District Hospital. One case has been registered and further investigations are ongoing.
