Government determined to conduct Inter and SSC exams: Minister

Education Minister Adimulapu Suresh said Saturday the state government would not cancel the final grade X (SSC) and intermediate exams for the 2020-21 academic year, but rather prepare to take the exams in the safest of conditions.

Speaking to journalists here, Mr Suresh said the parents are demanding that the state government ensure the safety of their children while the investigation is in progress. “We too are concerned and have postponed the final exams because of the spread of COVID-19. However, there was no request from parents to cancel the exams, ”he said.

The state government is determined to hold the exams as their results and grades will determine the students’ future academic careers, particularly IIT access and EAMCET, the minister said.

In Andhra Pradesh over 11 lakh intermediate students and six lakh Class X students would be attending their final exams this academic year.

Upon hearing of the deletion of the Regional Joint Director (Board of Intermediate), Mr. Suresh denied such a move. The new joint collector to be proposed for the apartment portfolio would be drafted into the education department for various development work, Suresh said.

The minister planted a sapling as part of the “Yuvatha Haritha” initiative recently launched by Rajamahendravaram City Representative Margani Bharat.
