TTD increases grant for Tirupati Vidyapeeth

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) has decided to recommend that the government increase the annual grant for Rastriya Sanksrit Vidyapeeth in Tirupati from ₹ 50 lakh to ₹ 1 crore.

A corresponding decision was made by the TTD Board of Trustees at its last meeting when the letter from the Registrars of the Vidyapeeth came up for discussion asking for an increase in the annual maintenance and development grant from 50 lakh to ₹ 1.50 crore.

The meeting also noted that in April 2006 the annual grant to the Vidyapeeth was last increased from 15 lakh to 50 lakh and was later ratified by the government in February 2008.

The TTD, which already provides the Sri Padmavati Mahila University and Sri Venkateswara University with an annual scholarship of ₹ 1 crore and ₹ 50 lakh each from Dravidian University in Kuppam, responded positively to Vidyapeeth’s request and decided to give the government the improvement Recommended grant of ₹ 1 crore.
