Madanapalle Medical College a boon to Chittoor: Minister

Panchayat Minister Raj Peddireddi Ramachandra Reddy said the construction of a medical college near Madanapalle would be a boon to the people of Chittoor district, especially the backward western mandalas.

The college is being built on one acre in Arogyavaram at an estimated cost of 475 crore. The place is famous for its centuries-old sanatorium built by the British.

The minister spoke at a meeting in Arogyavaram to a gathering of officials and party cadres for the virtual college laying ceremony by Prime Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy of Tadepalle on Monday.

Panchayat Raj minister said the project also includes the establishment of a teaching hospital, nursing school and related ventures. “Arogyavaram, with its historical significance in the medical field, is the perfect place to set up the college,” he added.

Mr Ramachandra Reddy said Jagan Mohan Reddy’s government is determined to complete the water projects such as Handri Neeva Sujala Sravanthi and Galeru-Nagari Sujala Sravanti, three reservoirs in Mudivedu, Sugalimitta and Adavipalle, for the benefit of the people of the west at the earliest mandalas and a permanent solution to initiate the perennial drought in the region.
