14 people die of COVID in Nellore, Prakasam COVID

Fourteen patients, ten in Prakasam and four in Nellore, have died of coronavirus in the past 24 hours on the south coast of Andhra Pradesh, bringing the number to 1,617 on Monday.

So far, 818 deaths have occurred in the SPSR Nellore district and 799 in the Prakasam district, according to a health bulletin published by the state government on Monday evening.

A retired school principal from Kota, SPSR Nellore District, who was given the herbal eye drops by Ayurveda practitioner B. Anandaiah from Krishnapatnam as part of the treatment for COVID-19, was among those who lost their battle against the virus.

The headmaster, Kotaiah, claimed relief in a video after taking the herbal concoction. However, he was later admitted to the Government General Hospital in Nellore as his health deteriorated. Over 150 people who took Mr Anandaiah’s herbal preparation recovered in designated COVID hospitals in the SPSR Nellore district, according to the GGH.

Meanwhile, the number of new cases has halved compared to the previous day, as 378 people in the SPSR district of Nellore and 345 in Prakasam tested positive for the disease. The district had registered 1,490 new cases the day before.

The total number of coronavirus cases passed the 2.25 lakh mark while at least 2,232 patients in the area recovered. The recovery rate improved to 84.92%. The number of active cases was 12,994 in the SPSR Nellore District and 19,392 in the Prakasam District, from a peak of over 40,000 cases in the past 14 days.
