The heartland of Rayalaseema praised the founder of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and former Prime Minister NT Rama Rao for designing and implementing the Telugu Ganga project to irrigate the parched region on the occasion of his 98th birthday.

Speakers also commended the NTR for introducing pension schemes for widows and seniors, rice at ₹ 2 per kg, Janata Textiles, mandate building for decentralized management, share of ownership in women and ensuring political empowerment of the backward classes. Party leader P. Peeraiah and former mayor Jeelani Basha were present.
