Special Enforcement Bureau (SEB), Vijayawada, Director Avula Ramesh Reddy has stressed the need to raise awareness among people, especially youth, to stay away from narcotics and alcohol. At a review meeting held here on Thursday to review the workings of the office, Ramesh Reddy said the SEB’s role is mainly to contain the stubbornness of the youth. SEB units Tirupati and Chittoor in the district have eighteen stations, among which 78 villages have been identified that brew illegal alcohol. “Brewing, selling, owning, and consuming illegal alcohol are recognizable criminal offenses. The SEB must work to make a difference in people like that, ”Reddy said.
Even those who supplied black jaggery for brewing illegal liquor would be held accountable, he warned. Aside from route monitoring and vehicle control, the office staff will visit the endangered villages and raise awareness among people to avoid the habit, ”he added.
