CPI (M) opposes the decision to go to Mudasorlova Park

CPI (M) Greater Visakha City Committee Secretary and 78th Community Corporator B. Ganga Rao on Thursday opposed the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation’s (GVMC )’s reported decision to grant Mudasorlova Park in the city at an estimated cost of ₹ 50 crore develop.

In a letter to the GVMC commissioner, the CPI (M) city secretary recalled that the group companies had spoken out against the decision when it was proposed by the mayor at the council meeting on April 9th. It was said that there was only one DPR for the project. But now a unilateral decision about the project seems to have been made. In the past, a tender was advertised for the project, which was later canceled.

Mr. Ganga Rao said that developing the park in PPP mode would be detrimental to the public’s interests. He called for an integrated development of the city with importance for the parks in Gajuwaka, Malkapuram, Muralinagar, Gopalapatnam, Pendurthy and Anakapalle, where there are no larger parks.

Mr. Ganga Rao said that at a time when many people are dying in the district every day, the government’s priority should be controlling COVID-19 and saving the lives of the public. About 45 urban PHCs proposed in the past in the GVMC have not yet started. He called for vaccination centers to open in all 98 wards of the GVMC.
