Construction of the medical college in Gurazala is due to begin soon

The lagging region of Palnadu in the constituency of Narsaraopet Lok Sabha is ready to receive its first medical college and teaching hospital as the bidding process for the 1,000-bed medical college and hospital in Gurazala is complete and construction can begin on June 30th.

The proposed building would have a carpeted area of 13 lakh square feet, of which 6.5 lakh square feet would house the hospital to be built at an estimated cost of 475 crore. The district administration of Guntur has acquired 47 hectares and land acquisitions for another 20 hectares are in progress.

“The medical college would be the largest teaching hospital in the district. I thank Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for sanctioning the Medical College. We are pleased that the medical college proposed in Gurazala is one of the three state-sanctioned institutions. The other two will show up in Paderu and Machilipatnam, ”said Gurazala MLA Kasu Mahesh Reddy.

The lack of advanced health facilities has forced people to rush to Guntur, which is nearly 80 to 100 km from the region. There are currently only 120 hospital beds in the Palnadu area, covering the needs of a population of nearly 10 lakh.

“I am glad that Mediacl College and the hospital were sanctioned during my tenure as an MLA,” said Mahesh Reddy.
