Less than 1,500 cases a day, for the first time in May

The district reported 1,434 new cases Thursday, bringing the total number of cases to 1,333,930.

This is the first time in May that the daily case number has fallen below 1,500. The last time it happened was on April 30, when the district reported 1,358 cases.

The number of daily recoveries again exceeded the number of infections. In the past 24 hours, up to 2,182 people who were receiving treatment for the virus have recovered.

11 more people died from the virus in the district, bringing the total to 874.

It should be noted that the county recorded 54,014 infections and 263 deaths from COVID-19 in the second wave this month alone.

The number of recoveries stands at 1,14,887, while active cases have decreased slightly to 18,169.
