The district administration started a two-day COVID-19 vaccination campaign on Wednesday for officials who work in central network parts and facilities of the state government.
The original goal is to vaccinate all Category 45+ employees who work in facilities like railways, airports, VSP, shipyards, HSL, banks and other power supplies, as well as government agencies like APSRTC and other departments.
Family members of the employees are vaccinated in a subsequent round. The idea is to give employees at least the first round of vaccination by the end of June.
Covishield is being given on the present trip and it could be either the first or the second dose, said collector V. Vinay Chand.
Covaxin is also given, but since supplies are limited it is only given to those waiting for a second dose.
It is known that the district administration has already distributed around 40,000 doses to all units that have their own hospitals, makeshift COVID hospitals or pharmacies such as Railways, VPT and VSP.
