President condolences the death of YC Simhadri

President Ram Nath Kovind has approved the death of YC Simhadri, former Vice Chancellor of Andhra University.

In a letter to his wife Naoko Simhadri on Sunday, President Simhadri described Simhadri as “the quintessential academic and university administrator”. As vice chancellor of four universities across India, Simhadri had received immense recognition for his acumen in the field of university administration and became synonymous with the nickname “vice chancellor of all vice chancellors,” said the president.

It’s been affectionately referred to as the traveling library for its deep knowledge of criminology, Kovind said. His service to the nation has been invaluable during his tenure as a member of the University Grants Commission (UGC) and President of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU). He will be remembered for his simplicity, humility and positive outlook on life, the president said.

The President offered deep condolences to Ms. Naoko Simhadri and her family, and hoped that God would give her and her family the strength to endure the loss.
