Slight decrease in COVID deaths in South Coastal AP

On the south coast of Andhra Pradesh, there has been a slight decrease in daily numbers, as well as deaths, as 1,295 people in Prakasam and 912 in Nellore tested positive for the virus in the past 24 hours.

After 19 deaths on Friday, the highest in the second wave, the region recorded 14 deaths on Saturday. The number of victims in the region rose to 1,503 as seven patients each in Prakasam and SPSR Nellore districts succumbed to COVID during the reporting period, according to a health bulletin published by the state government.

To date, there have been 755 deaths in the SPSR Nellore district and 748 in the Prakasam district.

The total number of coronavirus cases approached the 2.10 lakh mark, while the number of active cases in the region stood at 42,234, including 24,154 in the Prakasam district. The region also saw a decrease in daily numbers.

The number of new cases was higher than the number of recoveries of over 1,300. Only 749 patients in the Prakasam district and an additional 566 patients in the SPSR Nellore district recovered, further decreasing to 77.6%.
