Kisan Rail carries 544 tons of mangoes to Delhi

On Saturday, the Waltair Division once again created a record package load of 544 tons of mangoes, which were loaded into a single Kisan Rail in Vizianagaram to Adarsh Nagar (New Delhi).

It is the highest record number of parcel loads in a single day in the history of the East Coast Railway. Since April 17th, the division has sent more than 6,000 tons of mangoes to New Delhi on 19 Kisan trains.

The Waltair Division continues its efforts to provide an uninterrupted supply of essentials during the pandemic.

Despite strange situations, the Division runs special parcel trains and Kisan special trains to increase the income of the agricultural sector by providing hassle-free, safe, and fast transportation services for agricultural products, according to AK Tripathi, senior divisional commercial manager.

Waltair Divisional Railway Manager, Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, paid tribute to the tireless efforts of the staff to continue the record performance. He appealed to farmers, traders and exporters to take the opportunity of the Kisan Rail Special Trains to transport the fruit safely and quickly.

50% subsidy

Under this Kisan Rail, the government grants the Union a subsidy of 50% of the freight costs.

This will help farmers get their products to the national market at competitive prices and at a fast pace. This would help increase farmers’ incomes.
