2,160 kg of ganja confiscated, two arrested

District police seized about 2,160 kg of ganja from two people when they allegedly transported it in a truck near Makavarapalem on Thursday evening.

According to police, the defendant – one from West Bengal and another from the region – obtained the ganja from the inner parts of Sileru in Visakhapatnam district and allegedly tried to move it to Maharashtra. To escape the police, the smugglers threw grains of rice on the ganja in the truck. Based on credible information, the police intercepted the vehicle and confiscated the ganja.

According to a senior district police officer, the seized ganja in Maharashtra would be worth more than £ 2 million.
