LVPEI opens a hotline for advice on black fungus

Mucormycosis (black fungus) is another emerging threat, and the need of the hour is early diagnosis and timely treatment. According to Oshin Bansal, an ophthalmologist and ophthalmologist, the LV Prasad Eye Institute (LVPEI) has launched a hotline number 18002002211 to minimize the delay in accessing timely treatment.

People in need can call this number at any time from Monday to Saturday between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. if they have questions about mucormycosis. In Andhra Pradesh, LVPEI has tertiary eye care centers in Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada and secondary centers in the districts of Chittoor, East and West Godavari, Guntur, Nellore and Prakasam. In cases where immediate care is required, counselors will provide the caller with the contact address of the closest LVPEI center in their area.

The hospital even offers teleconsultation services for patients who cannot travel, says Dr. Bansal.
