Man held, confiscated five vials of remdesivir in Vizag

Drug control officers arrested a man and confiscated five injections of remdesivir from his property on Wednesday during a deception operation near Jagannadha Temple.

D. Suneeta, Drug Inspector (Vigilance and Intelligence), together with Ch. Laxmoji, CI (V&E) performed the operation at the direction of the Director General of the Drug Control Administration (DCA).

Ms. Suneeta contacted an Ashok by phone and introduced a relative of a COVID patient. He asked for £ 1.35 (£ 27,000 per vial). He gave the number one from Durga Prasad, who asked her to wait near the Jagannadha Temple. Another person, R. Amarnadh, delivered the vials. He was caught by CI Vigilance and P. Kalyani, Drug Inspector, Visakhapatnam (Sales). During interrogation, he confessed that the vials were sent from Hyderabad by his friend N. Srinivasa Reddy.

One case was registered under Section 18 (C) of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act of 1940.
