Elderly woman rescued from deep well

Local police rescued an elderly woman from an open well in Duvvur, Kadapa district on Wednesday.

Act on time

The well is in a state of disuse. The water is at a depth of 30 feet. Ms. Venkatamma, 65, a resident of the Indiramma colony, which is adjacent to the city of Duvvur, accidentally fell into the body of water. Upon an alarm from a shepherd, the police took action and brought in a team led by Sub-Inspector Kullayappa.

Senior policeman Basha, policeman Baba Fakruddin, and community policeman Uday used long ropes to climb into the body of water and bring the woman out of the well. Getting the woman straight up was a high risk, but the team, other than persistence, showed a flair for calculation, officials said.

The woman was given to her grandson Kiran and his wife, who thanked the department for the hurry to rescue her. Police superintendent KKN Anburajan appreciated the team for saving the woman’s life.
