The curfew in State was extended to the end of May

Prime Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy gave instructions on Monday to extend the partial curfew to the end of May in view of the current situation and to ensure a faster completion of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign.

During a review meeting on COVID-19 at the warehouse office here on Monday, he said the curfew should be extended to at least four weeks to contain the situation. It has only been 10 days since it was introduced. The guidelines and times are the same for the extended curfew (from 12 p.m. to 6 a.m.). He urged officials to curb the spread of COVID-19 in rural areas and use the services of volunteers, Asha workers and secretarial staff effectively for this purpose.

He also directed officials to conduct COVID tests on those diagnosed with symptoms during the fever survey and to provide better medical facilities and medication to those who tested positive. Focus on developing infrastructure facilities in COVID care centers, he said.

Black mushroom

Officials told the prime minister that diabetics and people who use excessive steroids are at risk of black fungus infection and that they have identified nine cases of black fungus across the country.

The chief minister instructed officials to put Black Fungus under the Aarogyasri program and keep a log to help identify the cases early and ensure treatment in some reported hospitals.

Officials told the prime minister that there were 47,825 beds in 625 COVID nursing hospitals across the state, of which 38,492 were occupied. Of these, 6,576 beds were in the intensive care unit, 23,463 were oxygen beds without an intensive care unit, 17,246 beds without an intensive care unit and without oxygen, and 3,467 ventilation beds. They said 17,417 of the 52,471 beds in 115 COVID care centers were occupied.

Oxygen supply

Officials said the state had been allocated 590 tons of oxygen per day, and demand, including state and private hospitals, was 590 to 610 tons. They had asked the central government to allocate an 80-tonne oxygen express daily from Jamnagar and asked the Karnataka government to deliver at least 130 tons of Bellary. They said eight ISO containers had reached the state with two more to come.

Officials said 7.32 lakh N-95 masks, 7.55 lakh PSA kits, 44.11 lakh surgical masks, and 23,383 remdesivir injections were available in the state, while another 8 lakh injections were available at Mylan and 50,000 at Reddy’s Laboratories were ordered.

Also among those present were Deputy CM Alla Krishna Srinivas, General Secretary Aditya Nath Das, DGP Goutam Sawang, Chair of COVID Command and Control KS Jawahar Reddy, General Secretary of Health Committee Anil Kumar Singhal and Chair of COVID Working Committee MT Krishna Babu.
