Honors for COVID victims

Opposition party leaders paid tribute to people who contracted the COVID-19 virus and died from a lack of oxygen on Wednesday.

Party leaders of the TDP, Congress and Left parties lit candles in their homes and paid homage to the victims.

AP Congressional Committee President S. Sailajanath alleged thousands of people had died from the abuse of the pandemic by the center and state governments. Acute lack of oxygen resulted in the deaths of unfortunate virus victims while governments tried to shirk responsibility by merely announcing ex-gratia to the victims’ families, he said.

The head of Congress said governments should, at least now, take effective action to prevent further deaths by ensuring adequate supplies of oxygen, hospital beds and medicines.

The party’s labor presidents, N. Thulasi Reddy and Mastan Vali, paid tribute to the COVID victims.
