Weekly Shandies closed at Chintoor Agency

The Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA-Chintoor) authorities have closed five weekly shandies in the Chintoor Agency of East Godavari district in an effort to curb the spread of COVID-19 along the three-state borders of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Chhattisgarh.

The weekly shandies at the Chintoor Agency are pushed by tribesmen from the neighboring states of Odisha and Chhattisgarh, where they buy essential goods.

Speak with The HinduITDA Chintoor Project Leader A. Venkata Ramana said, “Vendors of various goods were asked to visit the villages without the weekly shandies. Individuals returning to the Chintoor Agency from Chhattisgarh and Odisha states must undergo the COVID-19 test at the borders. Special medical teams are deployed at the state border to prevent people without the COVID-19 test from entering the country. “

As of Wednesday, the Chintoor Agency has recorded 13 deaths from COVID-19. The total number of positive cases is 865 from the mandalas of Chintoor (367 cases), Kunavaram (142), VR Puram (132) and Yetapaka (212).

“We operate two COVID Care Centers (CCC) in Chintoor and Kunavaram, each with 120 beds. Almost 30% of the beds in the CCCs were occupied. We have 10 hospitals, including a regional hospital, and all of them have an oxygen system. At least eight ambulances are available to take patients to Rajamahendravaram for intensive care, ”said Venkata Ramana.

On Wednesday the Minister for Backward Classes, Chap. Venu Gopala Krishna and East Godavari collector D. Muralidhar Reddy inspected the health facilities and the vaccination campaign at the Chintoor Agency. They are also in discussions with the ITDA authorities about building a 300 liter oxygen production facility to meet the needs of the agency’s hospitals.
