CM, officials should take responsibility for deaths at Ruia Hospital, says Jana Sena

Jana Sena Party’s (JSP) general secretary Bolisetty Satyanarayana on Wednesday objected to Prime Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s statement that the government is being held responsible for the problems associated with the deaths of COVID patients due to an oxygen problem in the country Ruia Hospital not in their hands in Tirupati.

Mr Satyanarayana said that the prime minister and his officials should take responsibility for the incident as it is the officials’ job to ensure that the tankers arrive at the hospital on time. It is their job to overcome the hurdles along the way and to provide the tankers with a green corridor at least in emergencies, he added.

According to Satyanarayana, the oxygen tanker left Sriperambadur around 11 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive at the hospital at 2 p.m. while arriving at 7 p.m. If the five hour delay could have been avoided through proper coordination, the deaths might not have occurred in place, he said.

Construction of oxygen plants

He said when five oxygen plants were sanctioned and fully funded by PM Care why only one plant was built in the past four months.

The facility is only taking 45 days to build and if the prime minister were interested he could have seen all five facilities installed by March and this would have been of great help in saving the lives of COVID patients, said Satyanarayana.
