Two days after the death of 11 COVID patients at the government hospital in Ruia SVR due to the reported interruption of oxygen supply, opposition parties have accused the authorities of failing to disclose the actual number of deaths.

The BJP leaders filed for Chittoor Collector representation with the government, demanding an inquest into the tragedy, apart from £ 25 in compensation for the deceased’s relatives. The memorandum presented to Revenue Divisional Officer Kanaka Narasa Reddy on Wednesday alleged authorities falsified the death toll and fixed it at eleven when it was “higher”.

‘Publish Recordings’

BJP state spokesman G. Bhanuprakash Reddy pointed out that BJP Dalit Morcha Chittoor President TS Rama Rao, who was being treated in the hospital, had been officially pronounced dead but his name was in the List of deceased announced as victims was not mentioned.

“The state government is lying. The statement that only eleven people died in the tragedy is far from the truth. The death number is falsified to protect the government, ”said Telugu Desam Party (TDP) spokesman NB Sudhakar Reddy. He asked the authorities to publish the hospital records. Telugu Yuvatha leader A. Ravi Naidu also attended a candlelight rally.

P. Chinta Mohan, a member of the Congressional Working Committee (CWC), claimed the hospital had admitted more patients than it was at full capacity. “The inexperienced administrators are responsible for the tragedy,” he said.

CPI National Secretary K. Narayana alleged 23 patients died in the mishap. “If we even have the names, how can you hide the facts under the rug?” He asked as he showed a list of names.

Ruia Hospital, a facility named by COVID, officially announced the death toll of 25 on May 10 (recorded between 9 a.m. on May 9 and 9 a.m. on May 10), which rose to 47 on May 11 is (recorded between 9 a.m. on May 10 and 9 a.m. on May 11), which dropped to 24 on May 12. The increase is due to the deaths of COVID patients, but it has not been possible to independently verify that they were treated in the same ward where the tragedy occurred.

In the meantime, PRDP chief PR Mohan filed a complaint with the Alipiri police station on Wednesday calling for action against the hospital authorities of the SVR Ruia government.
