Somu urges the state government to build more oxygen facilities.

BJP President Somu Veerraju has urged Prime Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to build more medical oxygen facilities at the earliest, procure remdesivir injections with government own funds, enlarge hospital beds and improve services in large hospitals such as King George Hospital (KGH) and the Visakha Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS) on a war basis to tackle the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic.

Aarogyasri hospitals

In a letter to the Prime Minister on Monday, Mr Veerraju expressed regret that the government had kept silent on the BJP’s leadership’s call to allocate £ 2,000 million to fight the pandemic.

“There was a shortage of drugs and COVID kits in the state hospitals in Visakhapatnam and Tirupati. The Prime Minister must ensure that no COVID patient is refused treatment in the private hospitals set up by Aarogyasri, with the apology that the government has not yet paid their bills, ”Veerraju said.

He said that if private hospitals and medical colleges sign up to set up oxygen facilities, they should get permission immediately.

“Focus on Tribal Areas”

Mr Veerraju also made targeted efforts to focus attention on the situation in tribal areas where people may not be ready to seek treatment for health problems caused by COVID infection.

“The police should strictly enforce the curfew to prevent the spread of viruses. Efforts should be made to vaccinate all people as early as possible, ”he said.
