Naidu demands ex-gratia for the victims of the quarry explosion

National President of the TDP, N. Chandrababu Naidu, expressed shock on Saturday at the deaths of workers in the explosion in a limestone quarry in Mamillapalle, Kadapa district.

In a statement, Mr Naidu said many others were injured in the explosion and urged the government to report the deceased’s next of kin to ex-gratia, as announced for the victims of a gas leak at LG Polymers in Visakhapatnam last year .

Mr Naidu demanded that everyone injured in the blast receive adequate medical care and asked why the government allowed mining operations at a time when the state was under an 18-hour curfew to stop the spread of COVID check. 19th

He said a criminal case should be booked against the prime minister for his failure to protect workers’ lives.

Virtual protest

In response to a call from Mr Naidu, TDP leaders and supporters held virtual protests in their homes against what they described as “the inefficiency of the YSRCP government in dealing effectively with the second wave of COVID-19”.

They held posters with slogans such as “Manage Vaccine, Save Lives,” claiming that the issues at stake reflected the government’s inefficiency.

TDP President K. Atchannaidu, former Minister Ch. Ayyanna Patrudu, Nakka Ananda Babu and KS Jawahar, senior leader K. Kala Venkat Rao, Telugu Yuvatha President Sriram Chinababu, and others attended the protest.

Instead of reaching out to opposition leaders, the government should focus on ensuring vaccination for all populations and ages, they said.

“Universal vaccination is the only solution to prevent loss of life,” they stated.

They called the YSRCP government “anti-people” and said the ruling party wasted valuable time pooling vaccine stocks.

Lack of oxygen

Regarding the acute shortage of oxygen and hospital beds, they asked the Prime Minister to take the opportunity.

In response to ministers’ allegations that the prime minister wrote to the center to request adequate supplies of vaccine, TDP leaders noted that the center had given states flexibility to purchase the vaccine directly from manufacturers .

Many states had placed their orders and booked vaccines in advance, while those in power in AP did not take timely action to save the lives of their people, they claimed.
