“Four hospitals booked due to irregularities”

Flying squads continued their inspection of the hospitals on Friday. The squads searched 15 hospitals and booked cases against four of them for irregularities.

The inspection teams found that the hospitals admitted patients on condition that they would not be given bills. That being said, they were found to have resorted to overcharging and misappropriation of Remdesivir vials.

Narayana Hospital in Guntur reportedly charged more than prescribed fees. No evidence of payments made was provided either.

Similarly, the Sairatna hospitals in Anantapur have allegedly charged excessive fees and discouraged admissions under Aarogyasri. Remdesivir has also been found to have been misused.

A hospital in Jangareddygudem, West Godavari district, has been found to refuse treatment under Aarogyasri. It has also been accused of inflating charges and abusing vials of remdesivir.

The Kumar Hospitals in Arilova, Visakhapatnam allegedly charged excessive fees and failed to provide invoices.

FIRs have been registered against hospital management under IPC Sections 188, 420 and 384, and 51 (a) of the Disaster Management Act.
