According to the minister, 10 ambulances will be used to bring bodies of COVID victims to crematoria

Backward classes Welfare Minister Chap. Venu Gopala Krishna said Saturday that 10 ambulances were used to transport COVID-19 victims from hospitals to crematoriums in Rajamahendravaram in East Godavari district.

Mr. Venu Gopala Krishna took stock of COVID care facilities and treatments at various private hospitals, county government hospitals and the COVID care center in Bommuru after some hospitals allegedly exploited patients.

“We were able to prevent the exploitation of the ambulance operators who were charging £ 30,000 to move a body to the crematorium. Now £ 4,500 is charged to move a body, ”he said. He has urged private hospital management to demonstrate humanity and not collect exorbitant fees from patients by inappropriately exploiting the health emergency.

Speaking to the media, Venu Gopala Krishna said that the forestry department had been instructed to provide wood and fuel to the crematoria, which operated under the auspices of a certain official, to ensure proper final rites for the victims.

Special drive

The minister has announced that the government will soon launch a special vaccination campaign for inmates at Rajamahendravaram Central Prison to curb the spread of the coronavirus inside the prison.

Mr. Venu Gopala Krishna has instructed officials to take steps to increase the bed strength at the Bommuru Center.

Oxygen supply

Rajamahendravaram sub-collector Anupama Anjali said the city will soon receive additional medical supplies of medical oxygen to be produced by the Andhra Paper Mill authorities in the city.
