If you will start work in Jagananna colonies on June 1st, CM tells officials

Prime Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has instructed officials to begin construction in the “YSR Jagananna Colonies” on June 1, and to build a model house in each layout.

In a review meeting on the Navaratnalu – Pedalandariki Illu program on Wednesday, Jagan Mohan Reddy said that 7.50 lakh tons of steel would be needed to build houses and infrastructure in the colonies.

Steel prices

“Due to the collapse in steel demand due to the COVID-19 crisis, prices are likely to fall. Officials should take the opportunity and negotiate the price in order to keep spending to a minimum without compromising on quality, ”said the Prime Minister.

If a beneficiary volunteered to have the house built, they should be provided with the materials they need, he said. Electricity and water lines should be laid underground, he added.

The prime minister said that building houses would boost the economy during the pandemic by creating jobs for workers and fueling demand mainly for steel and cement.

“Search for central help”

Given the enormous need for funds, the central government should be asked for assistance, he ordered.

Officials informed the prime minister that 1560,227 houses were sanctioned under the first phase of the PMAY-YSR urban housing (beneficiary-led construction) program. Of these, 71,502 houses were in legal proceedings. Decks were cleared for the construction of 14,88,725 homes. Construction of the houses in the YSR Jagananna colonies is expected to be completed by June 2022.

As part of the TIDCO project, 81,040 homes were nearing completion (more than 90%) and 71,448 homes were making 75% progress.

Minister B. Satyanarayana (Local Government) and Ch. Sriranganadha Raju (Housing) and the Special Chief Secretaries Y. Srilakshmi and Ajay Jain were present.
